About the Twelve Step Service Board

The Twelve Step Service Board or T.S.S.B. was started in 1950 in Chino, California by local A.A. groups who determined that there was a need for a local 24 hour A.A. answering service.

At the time, the nearest Intergroup office was located in Los Angeles, over 35 miles away. The groups wanted a service that was familiar with the people and the groups in the areas that it served. A telephone was installed and volunteers from the areas of Chino, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Claremont, Upland, San Dimas and Diamond Bar began answering the calls of desperate alcoholics looking for a solution. The board has operated continously since then fulfilling the A.A. pledge of resposibility.

Currenlty the TSSB is manned by approximately 35 volunteers from the local areas who give their time to help the alcoholic in need. In the spirit of the 12th step and in accordance with the 9th tradition, the T.S.S.B answers calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The Board is responsible to and funded by the groups it serves. If you would like information on how the donations are used, please contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.

If you have questions regarding the T.S.S.B. or want to talk to someone about attending a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous, please contact us.
